Home > About AMSRO About AMSROMarket and social research provides key strategic data and advice to a vast range of private and public organisations. In the past few years the industry has grown rapidly into a dynamic, international force as the trend to a global economy has demanded greater access to regional, cross-regional and cross-cultural information. This trend has seen Australian market and social research - its infrastructure and its expertise - in strong demand from internationally-oriented companies. In particular, Australian expertise has been sought as a springboard into the massive Asian market. AMSRO member companies enjoy a reputation as leaders in many areas of research. Australian researchers have developed techniques and products that are marketed world-wide. In Australia, demand for research has increased substantially as organisations, public and private, recognise the need for rigorous research on which to base key decisions affecting policies, programs and strategies. As the peak organisation for Australia's market and social research companies, the primary objective of AMSRO is to protect and promote the industry so that its important contribution to our economic, social and political well-being can continue. We therefore aim to be heard by key decision-markers in governments, industry and the professions. To this end, AMSRO works closely with the industry's professional body, the Australian Market & Social Research Society (AMSRS) representing more than 2000 practising researchers. AMSRO is conscious of the rigorous business and professional standards needed to achieve these aims. It is currently engaged in a number of activities designed to help ensure that the industry maintains world-best practices. These include sound workplace relations, ever-broadening quality assurance programs, effective self-regulation and active participation in industry and government policy forums.
