Alison Earl

Presentation: Empowering people & companies to grow potential

Alison Earl

Alison Earl is the author of Tripowerment: The why, the will, and the way of breakthrough change and works with people and companies around the globe to empower self-directed change as an international speaker, trainer, strategist and Positive Psychology Practitioner. She has lived in Sydney, London, and New York, where she helped build new business from the ground up, and worked with people and companies in over 20 countries.

Alison has been guest lecturing in behavioural economics at the Harvard School of Public Health for the last 5 years and leads a think tank, which is dedicated to solving the most complex problems in behaviour change – bringing together leading academic and commercial minds – in collaboration with Harvard. Recent attendees include the Global President of Pfizer Consumer Healthcare, the CMO of the Olympics, CFO of Comcast in addition to senior executives from Facebook and startups founders who are revolutionising education and empowerment.

Alison’s talk will focus on ‘owning change and empowerment – how to future-proof your people, your company and yourself against the pressure of constant change.


 

David Pich MA (Cantab) FIML Chief Executive | Institute of Managers and Leaders

Presentation: Accidental Manager to Intentional Leader

David Pich

As the first national Chief Executive of the Institute of Managers and Leaders (formerly the Australian Institute of Management), one of Australia’s oldest, largest and most pre-eminent Membership-based organisations, David advocates for sound management and leadership practise in the workplace and beyond.

He began his career in a senior HR role at Hewlett-Packard, and followed this in executive roles in Marketing, PR and Consulting at PwC and Computer Associates. His first CEO appointment was at a medical research start-up at a major teaching hospital in Sydney.

David is a graduate of Cambridge University and Western Sydney University. He sits on the Board of the Intensive Care Foundation of Australian & New Zealand and lives in Brisbane with his wife and two daughters. He has a passion for long distance running, although the sub-3-hour marathon continues to elude him.

David is also co-author of the Institute’s Leadership Matters – 7 skills of very successful leaders.

David will present on ‘Intentional leaders, not accidental managers: Why technical skills are no longer enough’:

  • The 5 success factors to leading with intent

 

Dr. Tom Johnson PhD l MBA

Presentation: The Human side of creating a winning culture

Tom Johnson

Tom Johnson has held a number of senior positions with some of New Zealand’s leading companies including, Europa Oil NZ Ltd. Spiers Group Food Division and Central Division New Zealand Breweries. At an early age, Tom combined his love of business with Rugby and played for NZ’s Hawke’s Bay and was an All Blacks trialist. He chaired the Hawke’s Bay Rugby Union in 1972 and, upon transfer to Wellington with Europa Oil, served on the council of the New Zealand Rugby Football Union (NZRFU – renamed the New Zealand Rugby Union, NZRU, in 2006) from 1973 to 1986.

Tom drove a number of coaching and development initiatives that helped New Zealand maintain a pre-eminent position in the global game, leading to arguably his most important role: writing the original position paper on the need for a Rugby World Cup. At one stage, it was out-voted 17–1. However, a year later, he overcame the opposition to achieve unanimous support and to this day remains a member of original World Rugby Cup Organising Committee.

Tom will tell us his story about leadership and a learning culture and how any company building a company without a winning culture is doomed to mediocrity.
