Research Industry Leadership Awards 2019

The Jayne Van Souwe Research Industry Leadership Award recognises research professionals who have made a significant and long-term contribution to the growth, promotion or advancement of the Australian research, data and insights industry.

The inaugural nominees include: (L to R): Brian Fine, Darren Pennay, Jim Reed, Martin Filz and Rob McLachlan.

The winner will be announced at the AMSRO AGM special event on Thursday, November 14 2019. 

This award celebrates an exceptional leader who:

  • Has contributed to the growth, promotion or advancement of the Australian research, data and insights industry.
  • Has made a significant contribution beyond that required in their paid employment.
  • Has demonstrated the highest ethical standards.
  • Demonstrates outstanding leadership qualities, such as integrity and initiative, mentoring and giving back, dedication and determination, resilience and risk-taking, and passion for innovation that has a lasting impact.
  • Has held a senior position of leadership.
  • Has significant experience within the research, data and insights industry sector, 10 years+.

    Please describe how the nominee meets each of the following selection criteria. Responses should be no longer than 250 words. Where possible, provide examples to support your statements.

  • The Judging panel may also consider the following in assessing and comparing nominations:
    • How has the nominee contributed to the industry to benefit others?
    • How have they demonstrated leadership, innovation and creativity?
    • The degree of difficulty of the achievement (and sacrifices made).
    • The nature and length of activity or service.
    • Current or and likely future impact on industry.
